Onward and Upward

I am learning that things happen & circumstances change, and I am starting to feel like it's the Lord's way of getting us on a better path. Even though it might be a rough road getting to the new path, and the process of change is uncomfortable.

Many things happened that made us realize that running a window coverings business might not be the best route for our family long term. I have to say, we are very thankful for the business. It has helped us provide for our family, and for awhile there it help a lot of people provide for theirs, too. We have also gone on 3 free vacations due to prizes given from blind manufacturers & whatnot, so I cannot complain about that. All in all, blinds & shutters have been good to us.

But we have been getting the sometimes not-so-subtle impression that we need to go on a different path. Mark has considered selling insurance for quite a while, but was too busy with running SW Blinds. Now that he shut that down & works for a different blind company, we knew that option was now open. We gave it a lot of thought, Mark talked to a few good friends in the "industry", liked the idea, we gave it some more thought & prayer, then it kinda fell in our laps. Mark was still deciding if he should sell insurance or not, when the guys who do our health ins started doing auto & homeowners, & asked us if they could give us a quote. They had been doing our heath for about 5 years, so we had them do an estimate for our cars & house and they saved us a quite a good chunk. That is what helped us make the decision. Mark really did not want people to feel like they had to use him as their insurance agent just because they know him, but when he saw he could actually help people save like we did, he was sold. Mark is now the newest member of the Distinctive Insurance family. They are a brokerage that does health & life, as well as property & casualty. (that is where Mark is starting) They represent 5 or 6 different national companies, so you can get the best price. Um, I kind of sound like a salesperson myself. Sorry for the big explanation.

I know that this too will be a hard road as Mark builds a book of business. He will still be doing blinds to make money as he grows his insurance business, so I expect to be a work widow for some time. But I know it will be worth it in the long run, and every hour he works extra is for us. Mark is a very hard worker, and will do anything to make life better for me and our family. I am so lucky to be married to a driven, smart, sessy man. (he just called to say he passed all the licensing tests,so I am also very proud of him!!)

Thanks for all you do to make this a great life for us, hun.

I hope you get tons of business. Tell all of your friends and family. Put it on your Facebook profile :> People love you guys and will want to utilize you if they possibly can. I hope this is the start of really great things.

Is he licensed in only NV, or can he do Utah too? Because we are SO READY to dump State Farm. Seriously.
